2016 Haitian American Heritage day

On April 10, 2016, Haitian Heritage Day was celebrated at the High Museum in conjunction with Haitian descent Jean- Michel Basquiat; the unknown Notebooks. This amazing event was co-hosted by GA Haitian American Chamber of Commerce, and the Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta. The High museum featured music by Ermite Mitou Charles, Henry Hans Jr., and DJ Final, dance performances from the group Haitian Divas, food provided by A Culinary Affair, and A Creative Taste. Author Carline Smothers treated the kids with story times of her new book entitle Fami Mwen “My Family” and art making focused on the Haitian culture.  There were over 3100 in attendance, in which the majority was from the Haitian community.  If you would like to learn more about GAHCCI, visit their website at www.gahcci.org.
